Basic information

All the conference sessions will take place in the building of Faculty of Biology, University of Gdańsk. (Wita Stwosza 59), which is located at the University Campus

The Conference dinner will be organized at restaurant Nad Potokiem”, located at Morska 4 in Gdańsk Jelitkowo

We do not organize accommodation but there are plenty of hotels and hostels around, and in the Accomodation section you can find some useful tips.

How to get to Gdańsk

BY AIR. The Lech Walesa Airport (www.airport.gdansk.pl) is located approx. 10 km west of Gdańsk. The major airlines operating at this airport include Lufthansa, SAS, Finnair, LOT, Ryanair, WIZZ but there are also other airlines.

You can also fly to Warsaw and then use train to go to Gdańsk (see below).

BY TRAIN. Gdańsk is well connected with many large cities in Poland and neighbouring countries. For time tables see website of PKP Intercity: http://www.rozklad.pkp.pl/en

Buy the ticket and get off at Gdańsk-Oliwa station.

BY CAR. Gdańsk is connected to the European motorway network via the A1 highway, which provides access to the city from Germany and Czech Republic. The European road network also provides easy access to Gdańsk from other European countries.

Moving around in Gdańsk

Convenient way to check your routes is the platform “Jakdojade”: https://jakdojade.pl/trojmiasto/trasa/

A nice system of public bikes called Mevo operates in Gdańsk. To use it you need to register and pay a minimum of 10 PLN, with the other 20 PLN you can use the bike for 2 days (300 minutes per day) . See https://rowermevo.pl/en/ for more details.

There is also a well developed system of public transport – trams, buses https://ztm.trojmiasto.pl/, and trains https://www.skm.pkp.pl/en/.

Tram, train and bus tickets can either be bought from the ticket machines (present on many stops), from kiosks or drivers (a single ticket in Polish is ‘bilet normalny’).

How to get to the University Campus

From the airport: The easiest way is to use car transport. Gdańsk offers services of different taxi companies. The other possibly is to use UBER services.

For those who prefer public transport, there is a train stop ‘Gdańsk Port Lotniczy’ outside the airport. Please take the train going to ‘Gdańsk Wrzeszcz’ railway station and get off at “Gdańsk Strzyża”. Tickets can be purchased from a ticket machine located at the platform or from the conductor, in the train). From the train station: The Campus is in a walking distance (ca 20 min) from the station, but is you are not an enthusiast of walking you can take a tram (line 6, 12) and get off at at Gdańsk University

How to get to the restaurant ‘Nad Potokiem’, for the conference dinner

The easiest way to get there is to take a tram or a bus.

There are three tram lines going to Jelitkowo: 4, 6 and 8. For timetables see https://ztm.trojmiasto.pl/. Please, get off at the last stop ‘Jelitkowo” and walk c. 500 m to the east (you will pass by a small pond on the left).

The bus line no. 143 connects Sopot and Gdańsk Oliwa railway station. Please, get off at the last stop “Pomorska-Kapliczna” and walk c. 500 m to the east.
